My picture book. Bio photos / Mi álbum ilustrado. Fotos para la bio (English and Spanish)

My editor told me Chiado Editorial wanted to include a short biography with a photo of me in my upcoming picture book. Finding the right photo.

All the pictures I had been using so far were from events, parties or a casual day I looked good. Plus they were at least three years old. I thought it was time and the right reason to book a photoshoot. Luckily as I had been an art student, my fellow class mates were starting businesses and image studios. I contacted my good friend Yanire from Fotografía Espacio de Luz and I booked a session with her. She is the best for professional photos and her studio offers a Business profile photoshoots.

The shoot lasted for approximately half an hour and these were the pics I liked the most. (Look familiar, right? ;) I also use them for the site hehe). The one I first sent my editor was the last one. I liked the misterious vibe and well, I thought I looked really good. Weeks later I changed my mind. It was not all about me, I had forgotten to think were the photo was going to go in. I looked too severe for the light spirited story of my picture book. It was going to scare the children off no matter how beautiful and intriguing I looked. It was definitely the best Facebook profile picture I would ever have but it was going to disrupt the rhythm of the book as a whole.

This is the one I finally decided to go for. I feel this has a feeling of warmth the other one lacked.

Was I scared I might change my mind again? Yes, and that my editor was going to end up sick of me for such a nonsense issue. But she was really kind and said: "Your book will follow you for ever, you have to be satisfied with what is in it. We will change it till you are comfortable with it"

I didn't change my mind again and now it is beeing printed.

Mi editora me dijo que Chiado Editorial quería incluir una breve biografía con una foto mía en mi álbum ilustrado.

Hasta ahora todas las fotos que había usado eran de eventos, fiestas o un día normal en el que me encontraba guapa. Y tenían al menos tres años. Pensé que era el momento y la razón adecuada para hacerme una sesión de fotos. Por suerte, al haber sido estudiante de Bellas Artes tenía compañeros de clase que estaban estableciéndose con estudios de imagenes y fotografía. Contacté con mi buena amiga Yanire de Fotografía de Espacio de Luz y la contraté para una sesión. Es la mejor para realizar fotos profesionales y su estudio ofrece sesiones de Fotografía de Empresa.

La sesión duró aproximadamente media hora y éstas fueron las fotos que más me gustaron. (Os suenan, ¿verdad? ;) También decidí usarlas para la web, jeje). La que primero envié a mi editora fue la última porque encontraba en ella una nota misteriosa y bueno, porque pensaba que salía muy atractiva. Semanas después cambié de opinión. No había contemplado lo suficiente en dónde iba a ser incluida. Salía demasiado severa para el espíritu liviano que se desprendía de mi álbum ilustrado. Pese a lo guapa e intrigante que me encontrase iba a asustar a los niños, chirriaba. Desde luego iba a ser la mejor foto de perfil de Facebook que iba a tener en mucho tiempo pero interrumpía el ritmo general del libro.

Me decidí por ésta. Había un sentimient cálido que notaba que le faltaba a la otra.

¿Temía que fuera a cambiar de opinión otra vez? Sí, y que mi editora acabara harta de mí por darle vueltas a tal detalle superficial del libro. Pero fue muy amable y me dijo: "El libro te va a seguir para toda tu vida, tienes que estar satisfecha de él. Haremos los cambios necesarios hasta que estés cómoda con él."

No cambié de opinión y ahora mismo están imprimiendo la tirada.
